A secret hidden under 2.8 km deep snow in the bone-chilling environment of -35°C of Antarctica has been revealed, which will not only help us understand the history of the earth, but will also prepare a roadmap for the future. This 12 lakh years old snow is being called a “time machine” because it will show us the picture of the ancient atmosphere and the climate change of that time.

This discovery is part of an inter-national project called ‘Beyond EPICA’, which is being funded by the European Union. After four years of hard work, scientists have extracted a 9,186 feet long ice core, which contains bubbles of ancient atmosphere. These bubbles will give us valuable insights about greenhouse gases of the past and their impact on Earth.
