Another big obstacle for the meeting of Putin and Trump is the arrest warrant of International Criminal Court, which accuses Putin of forced deportation of Ukrainian children. Switzerland, which could become a neutral host, would be duty bound to arrest Putin because it is a signatory to the Rome Statute. But Swiss authorities also have the option of making exceptions to peace talks. The question is whether peace talks with Russia will overcome such difficulties?

America’s Eye on the Arctic

Trump’s interest in Arctic geopolitics is quite obvious. Reducing Russia’s control over the strategic and economic resources of the Arctic region appears to be a part of Trump’s foreign policy. But there is also a risk of further increase in competition between the two countries in this area.
