India’s Bullet Train: A new chapter

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor, India’s first high-speed rail project, is ushering in a new transportation era. This project, being built under the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), is not just an engineering marvel but part of an eco-friendly and futuristic vision.

Key Highlights:

1. India’s first underwater tunnel India’s Bullet Train

The most exciting feature of this rail project is the 21-km tunnel, which will pass under the 7-km Thane Creek. This tunnel is not just a technical achievement but also focuses on environmental sustainability, protecting mangroves and local wildlife.

2. Japan’s Shinkansen Tech India’s Bullet Train

The Bullet Train will use Japan’s famous E5 Series Shinkansen. This train will run at a speed of 320 km/h, which will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from 10 hours to 2 hours.

3. Environment-Friendly Approach India’s Bullet Train

The train will produce only 4 kg CO2 per 100 passengers per km, which is very less compared to cars (14 kg) and airplanes (17 kg).

Solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems are being installed in stations and depots, which make the project more eco-friendly.

4. Use of Elevated Viaducts India’s Bullet Train

92% of the route is built on elevated viaducts. This will not disturb the wildlife and local ecosystem, and will maintain the balance of nature.

5. Cultural Design of Stations India’s Bullet Train

The 12 stations from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will reflect the cultural spirit of every city. They will not just become a transportation hub, but a symbol of the new India.
