The sad story of Indians who returned from America

When many Indian youths who dreamt of America were sent back, their hopes were shattered. Some invested lakhs of rupees, some pledged their land, some even put their lives at stake, but in the end they got only humiliation and pain.

“The son is nowhere to be found even after selling his land”

Robin Handa from Kurukshetra, Haryana had gone to America in search of a better future. He had studied computer engineering and thought that his dreams would be fulfilled by going to America, but the reality was something else.

Robin says,

“I faced a lot of trouble for 7 months. Sometimes I got food, sometimes not. Money was looted on the way, I had to cross jungles and seas, life was always in danger.”

On 22 January, they crossed the American border, but there the army arrested them and put them in a camp. There they were treated like criminals. Robin says,

“We were handcuffed, we did not even know where we were being taken. When we saw the army plane in front of us, we understood that we were being sent back.”

Robin’s father had spent 45 lakh rupees, but his son returned with only pain and humiliation. His father says,

“The agent cheated us, he said that he will reach in a month, but we had to wander from door to door for 6-7 months. When my son returned, he looked like a broken person.”

“We also saw dead bodies on the way”

Jaspal Singh of Gurdaspur, Punjab stayed in America for only 11 days, after which he was deported. Jaspal says that he had spent 40 lakh rupees and tried to reach America through Panama jungle.

“While roaming in the jungle I saw not only dead bodies of boys but also dead bodies of girls. I even saw Kankal. It was such a dangerous journey that I had not even imagined it.”

Jaspal was arrested by the army on the American border.

“We were tortured after being kept captive for 12 days, handcuffed, and even when we were being sent back our hands were tied.”

“We came back after spending 50 lakhs.”

Jaswinder Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab had also left with the dream of America. 50 lakh rupees were invested, land was sold, but within 22 days he was sent back. Jaswinder Singh’s condition worsened as soon as he came home, now he is admitted in the hospital.

His uncle Karnail Singh says,

“My son had gone to America to make a future, but after the torture he faced there, he seems mentally disturbed.”

Jaswinder Singh’s family pawned gold, borrowed money from relatives, but everything went waste.

“Deported him despite having a legal visa”

Ludhiana’s Muskan had a valid British visa, yet he was deported.

Muskan says,

“We had just gone to California for a trip, the police stopped us and said that it was just a check-up. Then they kept us for 10 days and sent us back to India without telling us.”

His father Jagdish Kumar says,

“We had sent our daughter to make a future, but she was cheated there. Now it is being said that she cannot go anywhere for 5 years.”

Punjab’s AAP MLA Sarabjit Kaur also raised her voice on this matter and said,

“A girl had a valid visa, still why was this done to her? We did not expect such a thing from America.”

“Give me back my money, at least half is fine”

Haryana’s Khushpreet Singh also went to America after spending 45 lakh rupees, but was deported within 10 days.

Khushpreet’s father says while crying,

“Just give me back my money. If not the full amount, then at least half, otherwise I will be ruined.”

Khushpreet tells that the journey was so dangerous that,

“We had to cross the jungle without water, whoever got lost in the middle, did not come back. Only he survives who can match the footsteps of the guide.”

Conclusion: America’s dream or journey of death?

This journey of illegal immigration is not just a story, thousands of Indian youths either lost their lives or lost lakhs of rupees due to this reason.

Those who came back said only one thing:

“No one should make this mistake, this is only a path to ruin!”
