Today, Canva’s co-founder Melanie Perkins and her husband Cliff Obrecht have a joint net worth of $7.8 billion, and Canva’s valuation is $26 billion. But this journey was not so easy.

The beginning journey

Melanie was raised in Perth, Australia. During her college days, she was a part-time teacher, where she taught graphic design to students. She realized that desktop design software was not only expensive but also complicated. This problem inspired her to create an easy and affordable design platform.

With her boyfriend (now husband) Cliff, she first launched Fusion Books, an online yearbook publishing platform. The startup was small but it was a learning phase for them. They started their first office from a hair salon in Sydney.
