Standoff and negotiations at South Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol’s detention compound

A large group of law enforcement officials arrived at the President’s Hannam-dong residence early in the morning. But serving a detention warrant was not easy. Negotiations went on till the heart’s end between the President’s lawyers and officials. Yoon’s legal team said he was ready for voluntary questioning, but investigators did not trust him because the President had ignored several summons in the past.

Yoon was in his residence for the past few weeks, threatening to “fight to the end” from there. On January 3, his security detail foiled the anti-corruption agency’s first attempt. This time, the agencies came fully prepared. A convoy of Sirens and black SUVs was seen escorting him.
