The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a new district in the state. This district will now be known as Mahakumh Mela, which is currently in the Prayagraj area but now it has been separated from Prayagraj and given a new name.

There are 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh, now this 76th district has been named Mahakumbh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave orders to the officials in a meeting, after which the District Magistrate of Prayagraj issued a notification and informed everyone.The decision was taken, under this decision Prayagraj DM formed a new Mahakumbh Mela district. The decision of the new district has been taken to establish the management and administration of the upcoming Kumbh Mela, so that the organization of the future religious fair to be held next year in January 2025 can be decided in a timely manner. It is believed that as per the order of the DM, the newly formed district will be known as Mahakumbh Mela. This decision has been taken to organize the special Kumbh Mela in a systematic way and to manage the administrative work in a better way.

According to Indian culture, Kumbh Mela is held every 3 years, Ardh Kumbh Mela is held every 6 years and Maha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years.
