China left Elon Musk’s Starlink behind in the race of 6G technology

China left Elon Musk’s Starlink behind in the race of 6G technology. Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co. has successfully tested the first high-resolution space-to-ground laser transmission. This technology transmits data at a speed of 100 gigabits per second (Gbps), which is 10 times its previous speed. This speed is so high that 10 full-length HD movies can be downloaded in just one second.

Wang Hanghang, head of laser communication technology of Chang Guang, has claimed that they have started large-scale deployment of laser satellite-to-ground communication, moving ahead of SpaceX’s Starlink. Wang says that MIT and NASA’s TBIRD system has also achieved data transmission above 100 Gbps, but their system is more mobile and practical, which works through a truck-mounted ground station.
