
Trump’s second biggest step was to separate America from WHO. He accused WHO of failure to handle COVID-19 pandemic and other health crises. He said that “WHO works under political pressure and it betrayed America.”
America was the biggest financial contributor to WHO and this decision is bound to impact WHO’s funding and projects. But Trump’s stand was that a country like China contributes only $39 million, while America contributes $500 million.
Pardon to Capitol Hill riot accused
Another controversial decision was Trump’s pardon to nearly 1500 Capitol Hill riot accused. In this attack on 6 January 2021, Trump’s supporters attacked the US Congress, due to which many police officers were injured. Trump called this pardon as “the end of national injustice”, but Democrats and some Republicans condemned this decision.
National Energy Emergency and other decisions
Trump declared a “National Energy Emergency”, whose objective is to promote America’s drilling and energy production. Apart from this, he declared an emergency on the America-Mexico border and ordered the deployment of the army there. Another significant step was to limit gender recognition to only “male and female”.
