But an important question is whether a private individual should be given so much control over public systems? The Government’s IT department is responsible for national security, critical infrastructure and protecting the privacy rights of citizens. If a private company is given this responsibility, concerns of accountability and conflict of interest arise.

At the same time, considering the bureaucratic structure of the government, implementing Musk’s bold ideas will not be so easy. Factors like regulations, political considerations and budget constraints slow down any reform process. It’s not enough to upgrade technology, but it also needs to change the culture of government work, which may be resistant to Musk’s disruptive approach.
